Pyromorphite
Unknown Owner
Considering the abundance of brightly coloured secondary base-metal minerals from Morocco, Pyromorphite is not often seen in good well-crystallized specimens. This very rich small cabinet specimen is from a small find in 2015, at Moulay Bouazza Caïdat in the Béni Mellal-Khénifra Region. It consists of a dense, rusty gossanous matrix, the upper surfaces of which display a slight stalactitic appearance richly covered in extremely glossy lime-green hexagonal prismatic Pyromorphite crystals. The largest crystal is 4 mm in length, but most are about 1 to 2 mm in size with a fine greasy 'wet' lustre. Minor small reticulated Cerussite crystals are also present. Ex Nick Hawes collection.
