Smaller cabinet in size, this wonderful combination of Epidote and Axinite-(Mn) presents extremely well for both species. From a mountainside exposure in Canta District, Canta Province, Peru which was discovered in about 2015, the initial brief flurry of specimens produced interesting smaller fibrous, to needle-like green Epidote crystals in sprays associated with dominant brown bladed Axinite-(Mn) crystals, but the quality of Epidote was nowhere near that of this more recent find. Featuring very slightly bladed, rather than acicular crystals, the Epidote sprays show an ordered alignment of crystals and these crystals are very richly coloured, with a more olive-green rather than pistachio-green colour, and fine glassy lustre. As beautiful as these Epidote crystals are, it is their association here, with brown bladed triclinic Axinite-(Mn) crystals which raises its aesthetic appeal. This is a really lovely smaller display piece from this important modern Peruvian mineral locality.
