'Faden' Quartz is a crystal habit of Quartz where the crystals are tabular, or flattened, but more importantly display a 'thread' or white line passing upwards through the group of flattened crystals. In the late 1990s to early 2000s, a new world-class discovery was made in the Dara Ismael Khan District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan and many off-matrix individual 'faden' crystals reached the collector market. On the other hand, matrix-hosted specimens were virtually unheard of. This remarkably aesthetic specimen is not only on matrix, but its display shows multiple 'fadens' branching of from a plate of rock matrix. At least three totally damage-free lines of 'faden' crystals rise up like 'windows' with other Quartz crystals present too. The tallest 'faden' reaches 8.5 cm in height and joins, seemingly hinged, to another vertical line of 'fadens'. As if that wasn't good enough, a small bed of pale pink, glassy Fluorapatite crystals sit on the matrix beneath the Quartz. A mesmerizing Quartz specimen, full of intrigue and beauty. It is mounted upon an acryllic display block for display and handling.
