Pyromorphite

Unknown Owner
Considering the abundance of brightly coloured secondary base-metal minerals from Morocco, Pyromorphite is not often seen in good well-crystallized specimens. A small find in 2015, at Moulay Bouazza Caïdat in the Béni Mellal-Khénifra Region is noteworthy in that respect. This rich small cabinet specimen from that locality shows that there is potential. It consists of a rusty gossanous matrix, one side of which has a cavity richly covered in glossy lime-green hexagonal prismatic Pyromorphite crystals. The largest crystal is 5.5 mm in length, but most are about 2 mm in size with a fine greasy 'wet' lustre. Compared with images online this is a super Moroccan Pyromorphite. Ex Nick Hawes collection.
