Levant mine near Land's End in Cornwall, is well-known for Chalcocite specimens but this magnificent twinned crystal on matrix must be one of the finest Cornish Chalcocite ever found. Measuring 2.3 x 2.3 cm, the main platy hexagonal Chalcocite crystal sits like a lighthouse up upon other almost as large gunmetal-grey metallic Chalcocite crystals on matrix. Another platy Chalcocite crystal - a twin - strikes out from one side of the main crystal. Some surfaces show a thin coating of pale greenish-blue copper oxidation products. This is a spectacular piece which is sure to attract attention in any Cornish mineral collection.
