Sometimes a specimen simply stands out as different, and for me this is one of those. Ordinarily a Siderite-Quartz combination might not get your pulse racing, but it is the way the Siderite has crystallized on this piece that makes it stand out. The matrix is a cabinet-sized plate of well-formed pyramidally terminated Quartz crystals but the way the 'balls' of crystallized Siderite sit, perched upon the Quartz crystals is beautiful. Individually the Siderite balls reach 1.3 cm in diameter. It is from the 9th Level, Potosí mine, West Camp, Santa Eulalia District, Chihuahua Mexico.
