The Rhodochrosite found at the 10th Level Silicate Ore Body, Potosí mine, Santa Eulalia District, Chihuahua, Mexico is highly variable in form, but can produce stunning crystals. The crystals here are highly elongated rhombic prisms in form, a classic feature of the 10th Level Silicate Ore Body. Their colour is wonderful, a rich orange-pink with zonation at their tips, caused in part by the terminations becoming much more glassy and transparent. This colour is enhanced by the very dark brown matrix. Much of the main display surface is covered in Rhodochrosite crystals spraying out in different directions. A few of the crystals are cleaved, with their terminations missing, but these are not overly apparent due to the cleaved surfaces looking like crystal faces. The longest crystals reach 1 cm in length and display superb crystal form. A really fine Mexican Rhodochrosite, rivalling the world's best occurrences in quality.
