Tucson, Arizona, USAEveryone knows how rare 'alpine' Amethyst crystals are in comparison with Smoky Quartz or Rock Crystal but rarer still are intensely purple coloured Amethyst crystals, most being a pale purple colour at best. This is what makes this crystal truly remarkable, and its dramatic shift in colour upwards, from very pale purple to almost white, up to its vibrant pyramidal summit is striking. Not only that, but it is big. At 13 cm in length and 5.7 cm wide, this is a highly visible stunning classic from Zillertal, worthy of any museum display. Its termination faces are exceptionally glassy and down its prism sides the crystallized surfaces become more complex, with stepped faces, and with the start of a sceptre 'stem' at its base. One will struggle to find a more impressive individual Amethyst crystal of this calibre from any European locality. It is from the superb systematic collection assembled by the brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021). This specimen comes with a custom-made Sunnywood acryllic display stand.
