The colour of this larger toenail-sized Borcarite from the new find at Charcas at San Luis Potosi, Mexico is magnificent - as nice a blue-green as any tropical pool. Added to this, the bladed crystals (which reach 5 mm in length) are remarkably sharp, supremely glassy, and sit wonderfully for display. Infact, this is a perfect demonstration of how extremely rarer species can still be stunningly beautiful. There is really now no disputing that the Borcarite from Charcas is the world's best. The quality of these crystals and their aesthetics in specimens far exceeds anything seen before in this extremely rare species from the polymetallic skarn deposit.
