This fine display Azurite specimen is from Pit 9 at Touissit in the Touissit-Bou Beker District, Morocco. That pit was producing fine Azurite specimens during the 1980s and 1990s, perhaps indicating when this specimen dates from. It consists of a gossany orange matrix upon which many, very dark blue glossy, thin bladed Azurite crystals sit, some freestanding. These Azurite crystals exceptionally reach 2.4 cm in length but most are 1 cm or less. Minor yellow Mimetite, as 'bow-tie'-shaped microcrystals are scattered on the matrix between the Azurite crystals. Ex Nick Hawes collection.
