This larger miniature Augelite is a masterpiece in aesthetics. Augelite - aluminium phosphate hydroxide - is rare species, usually yellowish or colourless, but at Mundo Nuevo mine in Peru a variety with gemmy pale lime-green crystals was encountered. For obvious reasons specimens were much sought after, with the perfect combination of rarity and aesthetics. This piece benefits from the wonderful combination of terminated Rock Crystal Quartz with bright green, sharp monoclinic Augelite crystals on top and even though it is a miniature it is much larger than most Augelite specimens seen from Mundo Nuevo mine. Individually, the Augelite crystals reach 6 mm in length and all appear to be in superb condition. Their colour is of the highest class for this species. The specimen is mounted on an acryllic base for display and handling.
