Dioptase with Mimetite on Dolomite
Unknown Owner
This relatively modern (2019/2020) Dioptase from N'tola mine in Mindouli District, Pool Department, Republic of the Congo has a rather alluring quality to it. Sitting as they do on a rather sculptural finely crystallized white Dolomite matrix, the contrasting very glossy deep emerald-green Dioptase crystals look very showy and with tiny (1 to 1.5 mm) lemon yellow bipyramidal Mimetite crystals scattered throughout it really does look very nice. The Dioptase crystals reach 1.2 cm in length and although the larger ones are tucked away slightly it presents really well. It is mounted on a clear acryllic base for display. Ex Nick Hawes collection.
