Featuring the 'typical' cubo-octahedral crystal form of Fluorite from the new finds at Milpo mine in the Andes mountains of Peru, this superb, matrix-less aggregate of Fluorite crystals presents the more unusual, extended pyramidal faces, making for almost octahedral or bipyramidal crystals, but with small cubic 'truncated' terminations. Green Fluorite is, believe it or not, a relatively rare colour which is what makes our Diana Maria mine in Weardale, England so special. However, all of the Weardale Fluorite crystals are cubes, or twinned cubes, never cubo-octahedrons. In fact, the green cubo-octahedrons from Milpo mine are considered the world's best examples of this unusual colour/crystallographic combination. This superb large miniature specimen features fascinating dappled green cubo-octahedral crystals, the largest of which reaches 3 cm across and is complete all round. Its darker, emerald-green parts are glassy and transparent, with pale green 'frosted' cloudy areas giving it character. A few small golden Pyrite crystals are dotted around the surface of the Fluorite crystals, providing the 'classic' association seen at this new discovery.
