Uniformly bottle-green and glassy too, this charming, slightly diverging, off-matrix couple of prismatic Elbaite tourmaline crystals comes from the famous gem pegmatites at Paprok, Kamdesh District, Nuristan Province, Afghanistan. Joined at their base, the crystals separate entirely at about the halfway point up their prisms. The larger of the two crystals reaches 6.4 cm in length but both are thinner than more typical Paprok tourmaline crystals with classic sloping terminations. Their intensity of colour is excellent with great transparency as one would expect from a Paprok gem tourmaline, and with good directional lighting this piece really comes to life. No repairs and full of character.
