This is a very attractive Quartz-Calcite combination from an obscure Canadian locality that still produces today. We have seen both Calcite and Quartz from here, but seldom a combination piece of any quality. A single, but slightly complex, lustrous and limpid Quartz crystal is partially surrounded by a cluster of pale pinkish Calcite crystals. The water-clear Quartz crystal is perfectly doubly terminated and measures 7.5 cm in length with only one slightly veiled inclusion that is barely discernible. The top termination is a double, whereas the lower one is a textbook Quartz termination and is well exposed. The faces and edges are sharply formed and the luster is good, but not glassy. The translucent, blush-beige Calcite crystals are somewhat complicated, modified rhombohedrons that vary in size from 1.2 to 2 cm across and are stacked up around part of the lower half of the Quartz crystal. The Calcites, only (not the Quartz for some reason), are lightly sprinkled with tiny sub-millimeter, sparkling Pyrite crystals for added effect. A very attractive and unusual combination piece from the Lyndhurst area of Ontario, Canada.
