This is a USA classic: a large, lustrous, twinned Rutile crystal from the historic locality of Parkesburg, Pennsylvania. The maximum dimension of this big, beautiful twin is 4.3 cm and it displays well-defined striations on tall of the prism faces on the front, back, sides and bottom! Not only are striations present everywhere, so is the twinning! It seems (according to Dr. Tom Campbell who spotted it) that every possible combination of geniculate twin combination is present here: from the obvious ones on the main crystal that makes up half of a sixling to those that are intergrown with it; and making up their own twins at the expense of the larger crystal. It's just fascinating as you rotate the piece in your hand. Nearly pristine, despite its age, it is not rolled and worn as are others we have seen. Rutiles of this quality were collected in the early to middle 19th Century and are rarely seen today.
