Measuring 18.5 x 11.2 x 6.0 cm, this large cabinet specimen of Fluorite on Sphalerite is more a museum size piece, yet I'm sure most collectors would gladly welcome it amongst their display cabinets. From the classic locality of Elmwood mine at Carthage in Smith County, Tennessee, USA, well formed cubic Fluorite crystals of between approximately 2 and 4 cm on edge largely cover a matrix of glossy black, crystallized Sphalerite. The Fluorite ranges from milky cores to rich lilac faces, intensifying at along the edges and corners to blackberry purple. All the Fluorite crystals have a natural rough pitted texture, a feature well-known at Elmwood mine, yet are bright and lustrous. A few of the crystals have damage to their corners, but this is still a superb larger Fluorite with Sphalerite from Elmwood mine and if pristine would have a price considerably higher.
