Long famed for some of the world's finest Epidote crystals, specimens from the wonderfully named Green Monster Mountain on the remote Prince of Wales Island, Alaska are quite distinctive in comparison to the 18th and 19th century European classics from Bourg d'Oisans and Knappenwand respectively. Notably, Green Monster Mountain crystals are much wider prisms, giving them a much more dramatic 'volume' compared with the thin bladed Knappenwand crystals. This magnificent specimen shows almost the pinnacle of how good Epidote crystals can be from anywhere in the world. Featuring highly lustrous, glossy, deep olive-green crystals to 7 and 6 cm in length gracefully perched upon an aggregate of white Quartz and Calcite, this piece is truly exceptional in terms of aesthetics as well as crystal size. It comes with a custom-made acryllic display stand.
