Two detached doubly-terminated 'Herkimer Diamond' style Quartz crystals are grown parallel to each other, one large, the other a smaller 'side car' crystal. The largest, at 6 cm in length is big for a Herkimer Diamond and Middleville quarry is one of the rarer localities for these types of crystals within Herkimer County, New York. Both crystals are slightly amber, to smoky-coloured internally, presumably due to a combination of inclusions of iron oxides and hydrocarbons, but have good shape. Ex David Hardman Collection, no. 2946.
