In great condition. Classic Ohio locality. The Auglaize Quarry near Junction in Paulding County, Ohio, is a limestone quarry that has been worked for aggregate and construction stone. The quarry exposes Silurian age carbonate rocks that contain cavities and fractures where minerals have formed. Over time it has become a well known collecting site, producing specimens such as fluorite and calcite. The locality is especially noted for iridescent fluorite, where thin surface films create bright rainbow colors through light interference. Collectors value the quarry for this distinctive material as well as for the occurrence of well formed crystals in the limestone host rock.
