"Hills Fairburn" Agate from the Black Hills of South Dakota, USA. Measures about 7.25 cm across, ex Christopher Wentzell collection. Normally, agates weathered from their original formation which are found out on the plains/grasslands (near Fairburn and other localities) are called "Fairburn" Agates, while Agates still found in or near their source in the Minnelusa Formation in the Black Hills are called "Hills" Agates (including Teepee Canyon etc). June Culp Zeitner once described Hills agates as "Fairhills." Alot of confusion exists due to all of this. They are all beautiful nonetheless.
