This fascinating specimen is an enigma. Coming as it does from the rich and diverse collection of German brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021) Collection it is accompanied by a wonderful old handwritten label, dating to probably the 19th century. This label documents it as Native Copper from Grube Goldloch in Kreuznac. However, we have not been able to find any modern records of this locality, or indeed any records of Native Copper from the Bad Kreuznach District in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The specimen itself, consists of patches of Native Copper metal surrounded by Cuprite and green Malachite within Quartz.
