A fantastic large example of the variety of quartz known as Prase from the premier locality for the variety, Serifos Island in Greece. This locality, which has been mined since the late 1800s, is famous worldwide for these exceptional actinolite included quartz crystals – sometimes appearing as half-amethystine! Collecting is no longer permitted here, so pieces are getting scarcer and scarcer – especially large one such as this!
