Pallasite, or stony-iron meteorites are one of the most sought after of all meteorites due to their extreme rarity and beauty created by the contrast between shining silver-metal and rock. Found in 1822, in the Atacama Desert in Chile, the Imilac meteorite is one of the most famous Pallasite finds. This beautiful, small miniature cut and polished Pallasite weighs 14 g and is a thin slice with a curved outer surface representing the fusion crust on the edge of the meteorite. The metallic Ni-Fe component on the polished surface is mirror bright. Ex David Baker Collection.
