Skutterudite
This is an important and display-quality cabinet specimen of unusually large size and visual impact, consisting of numerous, brilliantly metallic dodecahedral skutterudite crystals arranged in a massive three-dimensional cluster. Although common in lesser quality, large display specimens like this are very rare and stand out dramatically in a case for combination of luster and shape. This is likely from a small find of high quality found in the time around 2010-12, if I recall correctly. Skutterudite is a rare cobalt arsenide usually containing a little iron and nickel and good specimens of this, or any, size are rare. The large, fine, 1 to 3 cm crystals are stacked up into a highly aesthetic, almost triangular, very three-dimensional arrangement with a large grouping of crystals at the apex. Every crystal has an almost a mirror-like luster and they are all sharp and well-formed. The importance and aesthetics of this large piece cannot be trivialized. You seldom see any really good skutterudite for sale anymore from this classic locality, especially in this size class! Ex. Paul Stahl collection.
