Nestled in an irregularly shaped vug in volcanic rock are several, brilliant blue crystals of the extremely rare species liroconite, a fairly rare member of the classic old English minerals found in the early to mid 1800s. These stunning, vibrant blue, translucent crystals are incredibly well-formed for the species and vary in size from 1 to 7 mm; and are associated with white, prismatic crystals of quartz from 1 to 4 mm in length (unusual). The colorful, spearpoint looking crystals just scintillate in this irregular shaped vug in the host rock with the contrasting white - a rare aesthetic for the material. This specimen is from the historic Cornwall District in the UK that arguably produces the world's best crystals. Such old treasures are 200 years old, and nearly priceless; and are generally impossible to obtain. This is a significant miniature sized specimen and one of the finer examples from this locality.
