Rich masses of lithiophilite throughout matrix. Collected in 1935.Lithiophilite is a lithium manganese phosphate mineral that occurs in granitic pegmatites, especially those rich in lithium bearing minerals. It typically forms as massive material or coarse crystals and is usually brown, gray, or reddish in color. The mineral is often associated with species such as triphylite, quartz, feldspar, and other phosphate minerals. Lithiophilite can alter over time to produce secondary minerals through oxidation processes.
