Beryl
Unknown Owner
A cluster of slightly translucent lustrous deep green crystals of beryl, this is the variety known as emerald. In great condition all around.Emerald is the green variety of the mineral beryl, and its color is caused by trace amounts of chromium and sometimes vanadium within the crystal structure. These elements substitute for aluminum in the beryl lattice and absorb certain wavelengths of light, producing the characteristic green color. The intensity and tone of the green can vary depending on the concentration of these trace elements and the conditions under which the emerald formed.
