Most notably, the Himalaya Mine is known for its high-quality pink tourmalines. Often pink, this single crystal, completely doubly-terminated (a floater!), is a fine example of a strongly saturated deep pink coloration better than usual. The lower half is a light, translucent pink, and the upper half transitions to a richer pink with just a hint of cherry. The termination is primarily gemmy, which adds greater intensity to the color and the light patterns within. The prism faces are striated and glassy, and one face on the back has a small coating of tiny quartz crystals that creates texture and interest. The main termination has attractive, narrow crevasses, which add greatly to the aesthetics. With a mass of 41 grams, this is a fine, classic example for this renowned locality.
