The Himalaya Mine is one of the finest localities within San Diego County's famous pegmatite deposits within southern California, with its fame having spread well beyond there. These are distinct and valued worldwide, and are now considered classics of the tourmaline world for a typical color palette and style. Most notably, the Himalaya is known for its high-quality elbaite tourmalines such as this: multicolored with predominantly pink bodies. Mostly a rich magenta-pink, this cluster of five crystals displays a beautiful color variation. The lower halves are a distinct dark-green, and halfway up they quickly transition into these wonderful, pink and gemmy terminations. The luster and striations are superb, better than usual on a Himalaya specimen; and this tight, 87 gram cluster has a beautiful aesthetic. Previously in the famed collection of Jack Halpern #843, purchased in the 1970s. A rare intact, pristine cluster without repairs or restorations.
