Linarite, a lead copper sulfate, displays one of the most vivid blue colors within the mineral kingdom. The Grand Reef Mine is one of the classic US localities, along with the Blanchard Mine, and the linarites from Grand Reef found in the 1970s-1980s are instantly recognizable. These Grand Reef linarites have an electric-blue color, along with its luster, that can outshine azurite. The crystals here are smaller and in roundish clusters, and they completely coat the inner lining of this 4 cm pocket. In association is a white, lustrous, 1.2 cm cerussite, which provides excellent contrasts in form and color. Also, the well-developed cerussite and linarites are a good indicator of the specimen's origin. Good aesthetics for this well-known combination; and a rather large sized surviving specimen as these are very rarely seen on the market. Old Mark Rogers label, and later to F. John Barlow.
