Baryte with Stibnite$450.00

The Kremnica (Kremnitz) low sulphidation gold-silver-antimony deposit is one of the most famous mining areas in Slovakia but despite its history fine mineral specimens from there are rare. This old-time Baryte and Stibnite combination piece does show some signs of its age, with chipped corners to a few of the tabular grey Baryte crystals, but this association with dark grey to black glossy acicular Stibnite crystals skewering Baryte crystals is extremely uncommon now. This larger miniature specimen consists of a bed of hidden Quartz crystals, coated with a powdery creamy-yellow phase, upon which the main focus is the upstanding Baryte and Stibnite crystals. This makes for a great association. It comes with three labels, one from the G. Barker Collection in England, another from David Crawford in the USA and a much older, but fragile, typed label appearing to be from an institution collection c. early 1900s.
