From the type locality for the species, lustrous green crystals of epidote across the top of matrix. In good condition. The specimen comes with an antique label as shown at the end of the video and dates to the very early 20th century if not earlier.Cime du Cornillon near Le Bourg d Oisans in Isere, France, is a classic Alpine mineral locality where minerals formed in fractures within metamorphic rocks of the French Alps. These minerals developed from hydrothermal fluids during Alpine mountain building. The locality is well known among collectors for epidote, which occurs as sharp prismatic crystals with dark green color and vitreous luster. de Bournon discovered the epidote crystals at Bourg d'Oisans which were later described by Rome de l'Isle. He called them green schorl.
