Sharp glassy and gemmy crystals of gypsum coming off matrix. In very good condition. Classic locality for the species.The Naica mining district in Chihuahua, Mexico, is a historic lead zinc silver mining area that was developed in the late 19th century and expanded during the 20th century. The deposits occur in carbonate rocks and consist of hydrothermal replacement bodies and veins that produced large quantities of ore. The district became especially important for its extensive underground workings and continued operation into modern times. Naica is also world famous among scientists and collectors for its giant gypsum crystals found in deep caves within the mine, formed under unique conditions of heat and mineral rich groundwater.
