Classic Italian specimen with large white thick blocky crystals of orthoclase measuring to 3.5 cm in size on matrix with crystallized quartz, albite, and small fluorite crystals. In good condition. The specimen comes with an antique label as shown at the end of the video and dates to the very early 20th century.Baveno is a town on Lake Maggiore in northern Italy that is well known as a classic mineral locality. The area contains granite quarries that have produced large crystals of feldspar, quartz, and other minerals from pegmatite veins within the granite. Baveno is especially famous for the crystal habit known as the Baveno twin in orthoclase feldspar. Specimens from the locality have been collected and studied by mineralogists since the 18th century.
