Amber-coloured Fluorite always causes a stir because of its rarity worldwide, but also because of how beautiful it is when you get a really exceptional glassy crystallized specimen. This magnificent large plate of large sharp cubic Fluorite crystals from Beihilfe mine at Halsbrücke, in the Freiberg District, Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany is a true mineralogical marvel. Not only do the individual Fluorite crystals reach up to 4.5 cm on edge, they are intensely golden-orange with one of the brightest glassy lustres one will see for Fluorite. Reminiscent of the "Honigspat", or "Honey Spar" variety from the Wölsendorf Mining District, this is an absolute stunner of a honey-coloured spar. Adding to the already stunning display are 'lines' of tiny golden brassy metallic Chalcopyrite crystals along, or just underneath the edges of the Fluorite crystals. Beihilfe mine is certainly well-known for the quality of its Fluorite crystals, but this one takes it to another level, with virtually no damage to the display crystals too.
