The La Collada mining area in Asturias, northern Spain is well-known for great crystallized Fluorite specimen, but there can be little disputing that the purple complex modified cubic crystals found at 75 Level on Josefa-Veneros vein in Collada Mine are the most remarkable of them all. An older find, specimens from this discovery were for many years squirreled away and out of sight, but can now be enjoyed as the treasures that they are. This small cabinet display specimen from this find has the aesthetic benefits of Calcite in association, with well-spaced perfectly formed classic pale purple cubes with the iconic pronounced darker bevelled edges. The Fluorite crystals reach up to 2 cm on edge and present wounderfully well against the white Calcite backdrop. A true Spanish classic.
