Most mineral collectors are familiar with Okorusu mine in Otjiwarongo District, Namibia, a fluorspar-producing openpit (several separate openpits) mine which allowed commercial mineral collecting in order to preserve some of the remarkable specimens found there. The mine itself closed in 2014 but not before many stunning Fluorites had been recovered in a surprising variety of shapes and colours. This large cabinet specimen highlights one of the remarkable colours and forms for which this mine is unique - colour zoned green and dark purple in large perfect cubo-octahedral crystals. The quality of crystallization portrayed by this piece is exceptional with multiple stunning colour-zoned crystals covering the display surfaces. With good directional lighting the striking colour zonation and intensity in colour comes through magically. A worldclass Okorusu Fluorite. It comes complete with a custom-made acryllic Sunnywood display stand.
