Fluorite
Renowned as one of the few places in the world where large perfect colourless Fluorite crystals have been found, the mines at Dal'negorsk, Kavalerovo, Far-Eastern Region, Russia were once the premier source, but the supply ended towards the end of the 1990s with current specimens being survivors recycled from earlier collections. A few other places have subsequently produced large display-worthy colourless crystals (Huanggang mines in China and Naica in Mexico) but usually as complex stepped forms as opposed to the traditional cube from Dal'negorsk. This fine cluster of large intergrown glassy colourless transparent crystals (the largest reaching 4 cm on edge) from Dal'negorsk is in exceptional condition. There is the tiniest of chips to one upper corner, but the only real imperfections are on the back of the specimen or underneath where the Fluorite crystals sit on its matrix. Its upper display faces in really in magnificent shape. Ex Robert Brandstetter Collection, this really is a remarkable Dal'negorsk Fluorite.
