A sharp slightly iridescent semi lustrous crystal of chalcocite 1.3 cm across standing up from matrix. This is in good condition. Collected in 1979.The Geevor Mine in Cornwall, England was a major tin mine located near the coast between Pendeen and St Just. Mining in the area developed in the 19th century and continued into the late 20th century, extracting cassiterite from hydrothermal veins in granite and surrounding rock. Geevor became one of the last working tin mines in Cornwall before closing in 1990. The site is now preserved as a mining museum that illustrates the history of Cornish tin mining.
