Botryogen with Copiapite
This is a superb and colorful specimen composed of abundant botryogen in the form of large splays of crystals which makes this find from 2005 so phenomenal. These gorgeous, rich orange botryogen crystals are partially set in and grew on a matrix of granular, light orange-yellow copiapite for great contrast. These fabulous sprays of freestanding, bladed botryogen crystals range in size from just less than a centimeter up an amazing 3 cm which is almost unheard of for the species! This exceptional piece from the Paul Stahl collection is one of the best small cabinet pieces I have seen and has both aesthetics and color as well as the significance for the species. An extraordinary, colorful and well-balanced piece for a rarity. Truly outstanding for the find and certainly for the species compared to other locales.
