Valentinite with Galena, Stibnite and Native Antimony
This is a fine specimen of valentinite from the Colavi Mine in Bolivia featuring good crystals; embedded in a matrix containing galena, stibnite and native arsenic. This specimen is excellent for the species with an unusually distinct and prominent, 1.1 cm crystals along with several other similarly sized crystals in a shallow vug and embedded in native arsenic. The remarkable, well-formed, diamond-shaped crystal is colorless to slightly white, gemmy to translucent with a silky luster. The other crystals are similar, but display a more adamantine luster. The valentinite crystals almost look silvery against the matte gray native arsenic and the granular galena-stibnite matrix. This is an excellent, and ideal, polymineralic association piece for valentinite! Usually these are blocky crystals on massive rock. This fine piece and one of the most display-worthy examples of the species I have seen.
