A grouping of attractive green slightly translucent and lustrous barite crystals with little attached matrix. The green color due to the presence of malachite. In great condition. The Shangulowe Mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo is part of the Katanga Copperbelt, one of the worlds major copper producing regions. The mine worked copper and cobalt rich deposits hosted in sedimentary rocks and was developed during the early 20th century under colonial mining operations. The district produced important copper ores along with numerous secondary copper minerals formed in the oxidized zones. These lovely barite with malachite specimens were collected in the 1990's.
