Superficially, this pretty, very small cabinet sized Calcite on Fluorite could be mistaken for a classic from Denton mine, Illinois, USA, but upon closer inspection the surface texture of the Fluorite is subtly different as too are the scalenohedral Calcite crystals and then there is a thin coating of Quartz in places too, but it is not far off. In fact, this piece is from Jingbian Cu-Au deposit, Zongyang County, Tongling, Anhui in China, which was a quite short-lived producer of fine crystallized Fluorite specimens during the early 2010s. Of those that were found, very few had this aesthetically pleasing combination of deep purple fluorite cubes with partial overgrowth of Calcite crystals. This is a very fine demonstration of this forgotten Chinese classic from Arvid Pasto's amazing worldwide Fluorite collection.
