Botryoidal crystallized siderite across the top of matrix. This shows nice iridescence and is in great condition. Very choice for the species from this mining district. The specimen comes with several previous labels, including that of Hugh Ford and Joe Cilen. These are shown at the end of the video. The Junction Mine in Bisbee, Cochise County, Arizona was one of several important underground mines developed within the famous Bisbee copper district during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The mine worked rich polymetallic ore bodies hosted in limestone and porphyry, producing copper along with lead, zinc, silver, and gold. Operations were closely connected with other nearby mines and contributed to the rapid growth of Bisbee as a major copper mining center. Like many mines in the district, the Junction Mine also produced notable mineral specimens formed in the oxidized zone, including azurite, malachite, and other secondary copper minerals.
