A fine tourmaline and quartz combination from the well-known Cruzeiro Mine in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The centerpiece of this small-cabinet specimen is a slender and gemmy, 4.8 cm elbaite that rises beautifully from a tabular quartz crystal that serves as an attractive base. This elbaite is lustrous and striated, and the emerald-green color grades into a light-blue near the termination. The smaller tourmalines on/in the quartz are a super accent. This is a striking and excellent combination that is classic for Cruzeiro. Many of these date back to finds in the 1960s to 1970s.
