Villiaumite is an unusual Halite Group species with a striking deep red colour. This rich miniature-sized specimen comes from perhaps the remotest source of this species - Kvanefjeld Mt, Kuannersuit Plateau, Ilímaussaq complex, Narsaq, Kujalleq, Greenland. There, an adit was driven during 1979-1980 to access and test a uranium and rare earth-rich deposit within which Villiaumite was found in association with the Nepheline-Syenite host rock. This specimen comes from the superb systematic collection assembled by the brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021) and features many 3 to 4 mm patches of crystallized Villiaumite.
