Unknown Owner
A sharp lustrous deep blue crystal of azurite, this in the process of being replaced by green malachite. Very little attached matrix, this is complete all around and in great condition. The Tsumeb Mine in Namibia was one of the worlds most famous polymetallic mines, developed in the late 19th century to exploit a rich pipe like orebody containing copper, lead, and zinc along with numerous minor and rare elements. Large scale underground mining expanded through the 20th century under various companies, with ore processed at a local smelter that became central to the towns economy.
