This lovely, rich, brown Pyromorphite from Rosenberg mine at Braubach, Bad Ems, Germany presents an interesting juxtaposition - extremely richly crystallized secondary mineralization upon fresh Primary minerals. With a matrix of white Quartz richly invested with golden Pyrite and brassy Chalcopyrite the upper surface is thickly carpeted in coarse glossy pale brown Pyromorphite crystals, some as perfect isolated individual squat hexagonal prisms, but many amalgamated, or merged, as a waterfall-like blanket of crystals. Subtle colour zonation is evident across the Pyromorphite, both at crystal level and beyond and although there are small areas of damage, the overall display is very fine. Ex Hettrich Collection
