Cinnabar
Unknown Owner
Semi lustrous twinned crystals of cinnabar measuring to almost 1.0 cm in size on matrix. Slight damage present as seen. This is an antique example, the specimen collected in the very early 20th century. Note the $14 price tag on the specimen. That was incredibly expensive at the time. The specimen comes with an antique label noting that it was acquired initially from noted American dealer Lazard Cahn. This is shown at the end of the video. Cinnabar mining in Guizhou Province, China, has a long history dating back many centuries, with the region historically recognized as one of China most important sources of mercury ore.
